Annnddd she's gone. Lol. I FORGOT LAST WEEK, but I got fanart! Badass Kou inspired by the last few pages, drawn by my friend Deni, the creator of The Only Half Saga [go read it! current page is nsfw, tho] I also got my first fanfiction XD! Ocular Haze is a wonderfully disturbing Kou X Sunglasses one-shot fanfic LMAO. Reading it made me die laughing, mostly because Kou is sort of awkward enough to have done this xD Please go read it, even if fanfics aren't your thing. It is short and won't take long, and her writing style makes me want to die. /totes jelly The Spider Forest comic of the week is Spare Keys For Strange Doors! Toby Hathaway and Marion Sark are your local Specialists - experts at handling the uncanny, supernatural and subnatural. Specialities include visitations, disappearances, compulsions, manifestations, transformations and removal of uninvited guests. Yes, we do accept credit cards. Oh man, I love this comic so much. It is one of the comics I check each week obsessively, even if I know it hasn't updated yet, and I think anyone reading d*s would enjoy it. It's got a good mix of humour and paranormal that just really appeals to me, not to mention main characters that are ridiculously likable and rather interesting cases. So far it's been relatively episodic, so each chapter has been very stand-alone-ish... but I could see there eventually being an overall arc if she every decided to get into that. Lucy also does a webcomic called Kaspall, but I don't know much about it -- just that it is apparently awesome, from what I've heard. I need to read it eventually... @_@ /failure Current Incentive: A full sized panel from a couple pages down the line, since when it's resized, they will be ittybitty. There are also some discarded/alternate sketches from the chapter so far. xD

Apparently, Kou really liked those sunglasses... srs biz. [also, new canon pairing as dubbed by you guys in the comments: kou x sunglasses. i expect much fanart of these two, chop chop.] This page gave me so much shit but I love it..so much. XDD Like, poor Andre, but I really enjoyed drawing it... xD Life news: 1 year wedding ani this weekend, whoo! [note: coming up on i think 8 years together tho haha..] Going to eat at the place that catered our wedding [they are making the things special for us, cos they don't serve the things we had at our wedding in-restaurant! so cool!], then get some of the cupcakes we had instead of cake from kara's cupcakes [if you are in the CA bay area, should def try them out :9]... I'm way too happy about this xD! We're also planning to go to the beach for the day... hopefully weather will be dry enough! We're also planning to start working on the baby room tomorrow... I've never redone a whole room before, so...I'm kind of excited LOL. /rambling /no1curr ANYWAY....this week in the Spider Forest comic of the week, the urban fantasy series, Twilight Lady! In demonic circles, she is spoken of in whispers, and known only as the Nameless Lady in the Hood. For eons she has wandered the realms of the living and dead, craving solitude, yet compelled to aid any wronged who seek justice... or vengeance. Yet another I've yet to read entirely thru, I still find this story pretty fascinating. The first half is done with 3d models, which I normally shy away from, but I got pretty hooked in by this page and the ones following it and read for like an hour straight lol. Blake recs new readers start at The Indwellers arc, as it features the new artistic team and is a stand alone story [meaning you can read it without reading from the beginning]. I do think it requires you to at least understand that The Lady is sort of 'living' inside the body of a normal person tho [jen, the girl with the bluish/grayish hair]. Anyway, since d*s is all occult and such, I think this one might fit in with you guys, so check it out! Yet another page that gave me hell, but came out ok[hopefully]...btw I know you guys were waiting for this to happen too. You're welcome 8D Also, am I the only one who thinks Andre looks like an excited 9 year old in that second to last panel? Might be the freckles and missing tooth... XD /pat him Pre-emptively answering, in case anyone asks, since I've been asked about fonts used for SFX the last few pages: "Snap!" and "ack!" are just my handwriting... not actual fonts. xD; The AUUUGHHH one with Andre lunging is called Edo SZ tho. *nodnod* I also often use one called DeathRattle, but not on this page... Anyway, I'll try to mention them as I use them, if I use any others. This week in the Spider Forest comic of the week, the very pretty Chirault! I've finally admitted to myself how much I suck at descriptions, so I can stealing Thane's: When a wayward spell shrinks a young girl to barely the size of a tin of beans, it is only the start of her adventures. From the shoulder of a wandering demon hunter who is himself a demon, she attempts to find a way back to her previous size. Also, imploding cities. Chirault is one of those webcomics I've read a lot of but not the entire thing yet. This has nothing to do with it's quality, just my lack of free time when it comes to sit down and read time. This comic is actually really fucking awesome. Thane does the comic entirely traditional, hand inking, hand colouring etc on paper... using markers and a pen brush, I believe. It's fucking awesome. So much envyyyyyy. Also she style is just really attractive, and I think the hand inked stuff lends to that quite a bit. Anyway, please check it out @_@ Read it all in my stead. I'll catch up eventually...I hope. Current Incentive: Sketch of two panels from page 34 -- this page is actually inked and coloured, but I like the sketch better, so here LOL. I'd like to say I'm sorry for the recaption on this preview. I'm really sorry. This page took obscenely long to plot out. I can't even begin to tell you why, I have no idea. ._.; Maybe I was just having art block lol. Also, sorry for the lack of dialogue, but I kinda felt like it was unnecessary xD; [once again, million thanks to matt for his moral and technical support on this page lol] In other news, I sort of cleaned up the extras page a bit. That old playlist is gone now, replaced by the current, up to date one. I also replaced all those links in the video section with a playlist of all my art videos [only had a few posted before, they should all be there now]... I was also recently reminded that d*s has a TV Tropes page, as it came up in conversation recently. It hasn't been updated in a while, but if you are a troper, please feel free to have at it!! I love reading TV Tropes, but I haven't touched the d*s cos I felt like that would be cheating or something... [also i would end up spending way too long playing with it, so i haven't even made an account on tvt ._.;;] The comic for this week's Spider Forest promo sort of dropped out, so I thought I'd link a comic I meant to link last week, but like a failure, I completely forgot... My fave webcomiccc, Panthera! I have them linked on my links page, and I've talked about them here before, but eff it, I love this comic! I was gonna write up my own description again, but I think theirs works better: Bridgedale High School's most exclusive club has a dark secret: its teenage members moonlight as feline-shapeshifting, elemental-powered avengers. Four young warriors, with the power of four cats and four classical elements, battle against the very forces that created them -- and that may aspire to do worse. As always, I highly recommend this comic. The characters are very likeable once you get to know them, and the art improves p damn well over coarse of the relatively quick to read thru archive. Also, as I've mentioned in the past, this comic feels like a throwback to Saturday morning cartoons in the 90's :> So much love... :'D I'd also like to mention that two of the comics I linked last week have updated a lot! :) The Ironclad Man is now almost finished with it's prologue [btw, i urge you to also read his ridiculous news posts lol], and Neverend now has a few pages, whereas before it had none :) Go give them another look, if you didn't before. And while I'm at it, it couldn't hurt for me to link Bedlam Genesis and The Defector again :x Current Incentive: Another sneak peak at next week... Lol Vix's literal mind fuck seems to have backfired a bit, I think... @__@ I went in for an anatomy scan on the baby this week. =D She did some pretty adorable stuff that I wish I could have gotten video of, mostly the part where she was playing with her mouth and then stuck out her tongue LOL. We also got a picture of her looking like a certain game character... This week in the Spider Forest spotlight: Cetiya! As I am a bum and had a pretty busy week, I didn't get to read this one thru ._.; From what I gather of what I read like a year ago tho was that this is a cyber punk story where magic sort of exists thru technology. It follows one of the users who has p much given up his memories to be really good at it, and his partner, who sort of grounds him. I... I don't know, I suck at this ;_; You can read the about page, which is way more coherent. xD; *whisper* forgive me mitsu, isuckassss. Current Incentive: I was told I should use peeks at the coming week's page as vote art so I can spend more time on the pages themselves instead of extra art...SOO here are a couple inked panels from next week's page.

This page was a little too fun to work on lol. :x So much blooooo. I got some giftarts this week! First is a Cute Vix with the gals from my fave webcomic, Panthera :D~ It's disturbing how well she fits in with Jeff's style xD Second is a birthday gift from my friend Kyrstan: it's emoface Kou lighting a candle on a cupcake. LOL. He's also wearing the same outfit he had on in the old Michael Jackson pose art she did for me ages ago that I mentioned a while back [sadly i am still not sure where that picture is]... [yes, i had a birthday this week. i don't tell you ppl nothin'! LOL] This week in the Spider Forest spotlight: School Spirit! (i love this banner XD) School Spirit is a cute slice of life sort of story, only with ghosts LOL. It takes place in Australia and follows a group of school kids as they experience all the adventures and wonders of life as a kid, not to mention the supernatural aspect with the ghosts in the cemetery next to their school. The archive on this comic is MASSIVE, so I haven't read it all, but thanks to the New Readers page, you can jump in at any point after reading the summaries, which really is the best thing ever. I popped in at the Grace/Wendy part [the preview pics for it cracked me up so hard, i had to lol] and read from there, but I intend to go back and read more later when I have time again. Anyway, it's a really adorable comic and I def recommend it, especially if you feel like you need something a little more lighthearted to read. :) Current Incentive: No new vote art this week -- my buffer has gone down A LOT since the discovery of being pregnant, so I figured my time this week was getter spent trying to build the buffer back up than doing extra content... I mean, I was down to only 1 page! I am now at 2, and about to start working on a third page... slow progress, but better than nothing :) Hopefully I can get back up to 15 again sometime in the future lol. But yeah, feel free to vote anyway...

I don't think he's fucking around anymore 8( [also sorry for the rape vibes...] Not much to say this week. Finally getting the stitches out of my head tomorrow...hopefully things are ok. The area looks a little gross right now... 8( Also my stomach is starting to show even when I am wearing clothes now... whee~ :D ANYWAY! This week in the Spider Forest spotlight is The Only Half Saga! I have probably mentioned this before, not to mention it is in links section as one of the bigger banners [aka one of my favourite comic reads :)]. TOHS is about a dhampir named Cabal and is first and foremost a story of revenge, I'd say. Cabal is pretty much hellbent on finding his father, whom he pretty much blames for his and his [now crazy] mother's situation. Along the way, of course, he gets sidetracked by other interesting things [MIRANDAAA iloveher XD] and, idk, it's just a fun read. The art toward the beginning of this is a bit shaky, but it gets a lot better as it goes onward, and the writing is really solid throughout, and often Denise will talk about the pages and some backstory at times in her little blurbs below, which offer more insight. Again, I suck at descriptions, but give it a try! I DEMAND IT 8D [note: it has some nudity and profanity, but then again, so does d*s... lol] Current Incentive: Was listening to a Warpaint playlist on YT and felt like drawing Andre/Vix stuff... based the pose on this picture of Emily and Nolan from Revenge [i'm addicted to this show @_@]... what I didn't notice until further into the picture was how good I'd drawn it LOL. Shows you how often I zoom in all the way...

I am sure no one is surprised by this development :'D BUT PRETEND YOU ARE, OKAY. GUYS, thanks so much for all the well wishes about the baby =D I tried to respond to you all but I got really overwhelmed! You guys are awesome -- maybe a little too awesome! [*whisper* or a little too raph...] I will of course share photos of the baby when the time comes, since a lot of you seemed interested :'D Also a few of you suggested that I make you guys a d*s meme to play with... seems like a fun idea. I need to figure out how to make a writing one and an art one tho. I am sure not all of you draw, so having a written one would let everyone interested join in. XD I honestly had a lot I wanted to talk about today, but I can't remember it now! I had to get more of that damn mole removed, so I'm dealing with that head throbbing again this week, only worse cos, they had to go deeper and wider to get everything! It looks really gross... lol [also they shaved some of my head!] Also, I can't take anything stronger than Tylenol cos of the baby. *glowers @ stomach* My whining aside, I signed up to do a sort of round robin of comic promotion for my webcomic collective... This week, I am plugging War Of Winds by the awesome Kez. I planned to write up a nice little summary for it, but I never got around to it e__e; [can i blame the hole in my head?] In a nutshell though, it's a ridiculously epic fantasy story [like seriously, it spans over several hundred/thousand? years] that has a lot of cool lore. I only got to read a few chapters before my phone died, and have been reading a few pages before bed, so I clearly I can't offer a great summary for you yet aside from that. Thankfully Kez has actually offered one of her own, which clearly is way better than I would have gone with: The War of Winds is an epic fantasy about a young man named Talon who takes a flat, blue-steeled ring from a dying woman's hand. He finds himself granted near immortality from mortal wounds, while at the same time, he is dying faster than ever. Talon quickly finds himself on the run, hunted by a mythical race of half-human, half-beasts called the "Ayenroki," who claim guardianship of what he took. Can Talon find an ally and save himself before time-and fate-catches up with him? I should probably give the heads up that she's been working on this comic for yeaaaars, so the early art is a little shakey compared to her polished current artwork. [it's actually crazy how much she's improved @_@!] ANYWAY CHECK IT OUT YARRR Oh god I think there was something else I needed to talk about... brain not working. Wtf... If you are unsure if this development is creepy or hot, I can assure you, either reaction is probably okay. First off, I got a giftart of a real pretty Vix by my buddy, Holly. Give her some love and check out the rest of her gallery! Anddd umm... soo... I mentioned on facebook I had an announcement. So yeah, I've got some good news and sort of bad news. First off, you may have noticed a trend lately, of me complaining about being really tired, and also pretty busy with life stuff [aside from the stitches thing lol, those are out now btw :)]. I've been wondering how to mention it for a while, but I guess it's easier to just say it! In about 6 months, I'm going to be having a baby girl :D! Clearly, this is the good news. xD I think you can guess the bad news... d*s will take a hiatus around the baby popping time. While this sucks pretty badly, upside to this is that I fully intend to continue posting until I literally can't anymore, as has always been my way. :'D This might mean I have to switch to laptop setup as I get further along [which in my head seems very awkward, but i'll figure it the hell out, dammit]. I am hoping not to miss any updates during the pregnancy, but obviously there may be some spotty updates along the way due to unforeseen circumstances. Also, as I said, I will have to take a hiatus when the baby is born. I am not entirely sure how long it will be -- however long it takes me to get into a routine with having a baby, I guess. But!! I will definitely be back to continue d*s once I find my stride. I refuse to let it go unfinished. You guys don't even know how resolute I am in this, seriously. d*s is like my first baby, as dumb as that sounds, and the idea of it never being completed literally makes me want to puke 8D And really, I've always really hated webcomics that were discontinued/canceled, and have always sworn I would never let that happen to mine. I might be slow, but dammit, I get the job done!! ...eventually! LOL. Anyway, I've been told by my SF buddies that a good thing to do during the hiatus is try doing the whole guest strip thing, having art contests that you guys can participate in, or posting d*s sketches I do from time to time and what not. If you guys have any ideas, lemme know! I wanna try to keep in touch with you guys too, even while I'm not able to update, so I will be trying to keep in touch thru FB, twitter, and the comment system here :) Anyway, we still have until August to continue enjoying the story... so there's time to come up with ideas xD Side note, because my baby is apparently awesome. PERSONAL SPACE WARNING, BZZT BZZT. [also...that 'oh god' is supposed to be one thought, not like a pause between the words xD...it just looked strange in one word bubble for some reason...] So this page took forever to prep today [part of why this page is posted later than normal]... I had a creepy looking mole removed from my scalp [they called today and said they were pretty sure it was not malignant, but he was sending it off to another lab for be sure cos the roots were questionable], and all day it was just pounndddinngg awaaay. So I was having a lot of trouble keeping focus on my art lol... [it's throbbing away as we speak...will self medicate soon so i can sleep thru it @_@] In other news, I wanted to thank the lot of you for all the comments I get on these pages. If looks could kill xD;;;... poor Vix. If people were unaware, d*s is part of a webcomic collective called Spider Forest! We just accepted some new comics, so I thought I'd give them some linkage... unfortunately I suck at summaries so please give them a chance despite my fail 8D; Dark White - Pretty art and Fantasy setting. Very new so a quick read :) Gods of the Game - Something for you D&D players. :D Also relatively quick read. Spine - Cool art style, kind of an actiony/sci fi type story. I'd say maybe more adult, mostly cos of the violent first chapter. [then again, if you are reading d*s, maybe you like bloody stuff!] Ley Lines - Not sure if anyone read Shades of Gray back in the day, but this is by the same artist/writer! Check it ouuttt. Footloose - I still haven't gotten thru all of this comic...the archive is pretty long~ There's a lot of unhumany stuff in here, too! Silent Pirate - Super adorable comic. The title pretty much says everything you need to know about this comic :) Lasalle's Legacy - Haven't had a chance to read thru this one entirely yet [it was a later entry] but I gather it's got pirates and action and probably some loooove in there too. Also the art is pretty cute. That's all of'em! Current Incentive: YET AGAIN, BUSY. So I went thru some of my old art and threw it together. Most of this is probably 2003-2006...and I am pretty sure most of this isn't on my DA, so umm...hopefully it's new for you =D??

HMM, WHO DAT. And why did she get Kou's panties in a twist? 8D [if you've watched my DA for a long time, you may recognize her...] d*s got a pretty sweet review this week over at Tangents Reviews, so check it out, if that sorta thing tickles your fancy. ;D [i made that suggestive, and i don't know why] In comic related news, I am starting to realize chapter 7 is going to be a monster, page count wise. This is because I combined two chapters from the novel into one, but the splitting point was a little awkward [about when vix looked up to see Andre last page lol]... oh well! That doesn't matter, right...? lol... Current Incentive: Busy again this week, but I did manage to sketch some stuff on the back of a flyer during a class this week [instead of paying attention 8D] using a ballpoint pen. I coloured one of the Vix's and a Dahlia a bit in photoshop as well, just for shits and giggles. :)

Gurl, brush that nappy ass hair 8D New fanart! Vix as a Succubus! by Kat [she draws me so much awesome art!! @__@] Would also like to plug a webcomic that I've been reading for a while but only just got around to adding to my links page! Spare Keys for Strange Doors is a story about two paranormal detectives who, well...solve paranormal problems! It's a really fun read, and so far has focused on the subjects of investigation rather than the duo themselves. In other news, if you don't check the d*s facebook page, you might have missed that I've updated the d*s playlist, as well as the drama with my dying tablet [it's better now, but there are some cool pics of the tablet's innards! haha]... so have a peek at it if interested. About now, I am sure Kou is totally convinced it's lady issues. :'D The Panthera cast is actually on this page again, sort of [their backs count? LOL] as well as my friend's charas, Mirah and Demi :) [demi will actually play a part later in the comic -- look forward to it!] In other news, I haven't updated my fanart page in ages..I really need to get on that! But I got some art of a chibi Vix this week by Varethane, who does the webcomic Chirault... AND!! I am not sure I ever linked this artwork of Vix by Kat, cos she posted it around my honeymoon break... if I did link it, well, enjoy it again xD? In other OTHER news, I added two new comics to the links section... first is Utopiates, which is a comic where there are these crazy drugs that basically give you new personalities. It's relatively new so there's not a huge lot of main storyline in it yet, but it's promising and the art is pretty badass. If you've ever seen Broken Saints [which i highly doubt ._.], please tell me I am not alone in feeling nostalgic when I read this comic :P Second is Karnellium -- I actually have no idea what this is about yet, it's only a few pages long so far, but the art is really pretty! I collected all the questions and was planning to work on a round of them after I finished prepping this page, but this page took a serious amount of retouching, art and dialogue wise...@_@;; it was already 5 before I was done with that, and I ended up with a huge headache. NEW CHAPTER!! NEW VOLUME!! And also... new layout =D New stuff! Comment System! Because people have wanted it since forever... Lol. You can find the comment system below the news here... when you click the "# Comments" button, it will load up the comment app, which is run by Disqus. So those of you who avoid signing up for forums can have a voice now too :) Sidebar! Completely new. :D It has buttons for where to find d*s related things, including the rss [previously hidden at the bottom of the page lol], Deviantart Group, facebook page, etc etc... You'll also find the vote incentive button is going to be over there now [tho i am not 100% on this yet], as well as a button for the underused d*s store, a new project wonderful adspace and also... a donate button, since people have actually asked me how they can donate. xD THE OBVIOUS! Chapter 3, Misguided Angel... and so the story begins ;] Like the others have been, this chapter is named after a song, and one that I really love... 'Misguided Angel' by the Cowboy Junkies. [youtube link] It's sort of a nod to my mom, as well, since she used to listen to this group a lot when I was a little liiiiittle kid. She introduced me to a lot of really nice stuff as I grew up. Love ya, mama :] While the lyrics don't really fit the chapter, the title really does lol... so there it is. Current Incentive: I was able to do two pages this last week, so I spent the weekend sketching out some thumbnails and stuff for chapter 3, cos I was near to the end of my sketches after finishing the last page I did... I managed to sketch up about 9 of them [got up to page 20 thumbed], so here's a pic of my thumbnail sketch for page 17 of chapter 3. Have fun mocking up some dialogue in your head or photoshop. If you missed it, I am going back to 1 update a week [fridays] with occassional Tuesday updates, which will be announced the Friday before the extra update. My buffer has become very small because of my new job and holiday stuff and I think it's important to have a few pages in case I can't draw for a few days or something. I'll be posting the cover page on Tuesday, and then it will just be Friday updates from there on... just wanted to give a heads up. In other news, I've updated the Extras section! I added links to all my art videos, and have also put together a makeshift playlist for the comic. Basically every song on the playlist is somehow related to d*s, and I've explained all the ones I could without giving spoilers. There are a few I couldn't find so I linked to YT in the description, so give those a listen as well :D I suggest putting the playlist on while browsing instead of just sitting there and staring at my site or something LOL. I'll prolly be adding more to the playlist in the future. Yay, unhumans! Can you guess what kind they are? :'D [tho the first one may not be very obvious...] Current Incentive: I considered expanding upon the vampire wikipedia article, but came up with this last minute -- DREAM*SCAR AS A SUPER SHOUJO ANIME. Complete with pink stars and spikey hair. Hopefully the bottom japanese actually says "Yume No" cos...I was using my old Jap-Eng dictionary that is smaller than my palm and the kanji was really tiny for Yume lol... Rut roh, back story incoming! Current Incentive: Happy Halloween!! This week's incentive is just a little doodle of the gang showing off their Halloween costumes :D The top pics were drawn on the comp, but the bottom one in colour was done on paper and I was pretty drunk when I coloured it.
